The most common tests in medical thesis biostatistics are: chi-square for comparing proportions between groups (e.g., complication rates), independent samples t-test or Mann-Whitney U for comparing continuous outcomes, paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed-rank for before-after comparisons, and Pearson or Spearman correlation for associations.
For studies involving time-to-event outcomes — time to discharge, time to relapse, time to death — Kaplan-Meier survival curves and log-rank tests are required. If you have multiple predictors of a time-to-event outcome, Cox proportional hazards regression is the appropriate model.
